MiYear: A Look Back On MiCamp’s Best Year Yet

‘Tis the season for taking a beat and reflecting on the year that was. These last 12 months have, hands down, been our best yet, marked by meteoric growth on all sides, including a new solution that’s making serious WAV(es). But we aren’t stopping there. The groundwork has already been laid for 2018, with a collective focus on delivering another record-breaking year.

Like any company, we see growth and evolution as an iterative process – we want to learn from our wins and our near-misses, and use every single experience to build a better MiCamp. It’s a simple notion, but one that’s always been central to our business. So what made this an unparalleled year? Ultimately, it was our surge in access, growth, and evolution which, together, drove unprecedented success.

We attended 12 trade shows in 2017 including CES – the world’s largest consumer technology trade show – Money20/20, HITEC, and G2E, among others. These events increased our access to a new audience of business leaders, industry insiders, gaming and hospitality enterprises, and introduced countless decision-makers to our platform.

Beyond that, though, being face-to-face with such diverse groups of attendees gave us greater insight into the wants and needs of our extended customer base – insights we’ll be leveraging in the year ahead. We strive to deliver products and solutions that support merchants. By hearing straight from prospective and existing customers, we’re able to keep refining and reimagining, helping drive our business and our relationships forward.

Every day we’re fueled by our dynamic, passionate team – a team that grew by 20% in 2017. For a company that’s been in business for a decade, that level of single-year staffing growth is truly jaw-dropping and speaks to the innovations at the company and in the industry. We started in 2007 with just four people. Today, we have more than 100 team members from coast to coast.

This year also marked a major milestone for MiCamp: we launched our latest solution, WAVit. WAVit is our zero percent credit card processing solution and, appropriately, it’s already making some serious industry waves. Instead of paying per transaction, our merchants can now pay a low monthly fee and, with it, can process an unlimited number of credit card transactions.

We like to think of WAVit as the next step in merchant advocacy – a premier processing program for a fraction of the price and a major bottom line-booster for our merchants. A company processing $1,000,000.00 in annual credit card sales, for example, can easily save $25,000.00 each year using WAVit. And, in 2018, we’re confident WAVit will grow and evolve even more, reaching an increased number of merchants and companies, helping drive even greater savings.

Together, these achievements helped propel MiCamp to new heights and drove a 38% year-over-year increase in revenue. And with thousands of merchants processing over $2 billion each year using MiCamp Solutions’ platforms like MiPoint and WAVit, we expect that number to keep growing in 2018.
